In 2008, filmmaker Adam Gibgot gave me this first edition copy, discarded by the Boscawen, N. H., Town Library. Though Adam could not have known it at the time, the town of Boscawen was originally Contoocook, located between the towns of Passaconaway and Concord, along the Contoocook River. This may be the very area where Passaconaway lived. Whittier mentions Contoocook more than once in his poem The Bridal of Pennacook about the marriage of Passaconaway's daughter.―Dan Mahony
